Given the raw strength of sales of the franchise in both the original light novel and anime adaptation department, the idea of thinking it finds a place in a favorites of the year least is not very surprising from many perspectives.
Indeed though, for a series that is often all about matters of character perspective, this entry has taken great strides in distancing itself from the ones that had become all too familiar.

Happy New Year! To celebrate, things are… pretty quiet given the production break.

What a strange and unusual week. This is at least part of why I do not subscribe to “three episode” rules.
Some productions changed thematic gears, others artistic ones. What seemed like previously pretty solid ground for a few is now potentially giving way to marshy swamps.

Many folks I know ascribe to the notion of a “three episode rule” when it comes to selecting what to keep and drop around this time of the season. The productions have had some time to stretch their legs, jog a few laps, and we get an idea of who may or may not be making the varsity team.
Much like many fantasy sports groups though, I don’t use such trap doors to get myself off of a sinking ship, so none of these shows I am following will be traded away regardless of how enjoyable or terrible they are proving to be.

The problem with deciding to write about currently airing shows this season is I found myself convinced into picking up three more, even if they won’t all be week to week affairs (that’s what I like to tell myself).
Monogatari finished an arc, so I actually get to talk about that. Pupa is still missing. But otherwise, all things being equal, while this will be long I think I have a solid foundation for these posts for the rest of the season.

While we’re into October, Summer anime season for 2013 has now officially closed up shop for the year and it’s time to lock all the toys back in the box and do at least a little light clean up before we have company over for Fall season and get everything strewn about right and proper all over again.
These passing thoughts are not presented in any particular order, aside from my favorite series of the Summer, which I would like to save my goodbye for until the end.
