Over the years, I have become increasingly disillusioned with how Hollywood and entertainment media at large has been portraying superheroes.
Gatchaman Crowds has my back and shares in this opinion.
It is a series of broadside confetti canon blasts exuberantly rebelling against and reconstructing the very genre of entertainment it knows can thrive in the precise areas it has been casting aside.

This Week: Corpse Party: Missing Footage and Corpse Party: Tortured Souls – Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou
October continues, and in doing so, my blood and horror backcatalogue binge can not be slain.

This Week: Kill la Kill, Nagi No Asukara, Coppelion, and Miss Monochrome
You know, I told myself I wanted to try and give a go at weekly thoughts on currently airing shows for Fall season. Vary things up a bit, and give another column outlet outside of the usual backcatalog spelunking.
But much of what made it on my list to follow airs at odder points for a Wednesday posting schedule this go around (and Pupa is currently a nonstarter in search of an air date), so it looks like many of these thoughts will come days after airing. No chasing the Day And Date dragon. And That’s OK.

As we’re into the month of October, it’s the time of year when one might get to thinking they want to pop something in for the upcoming Halloween holiday. Questions like “What’s your favorite Halloween anime?” start popping up around forums and suggestion threads. Often, while the responses are often quite populated by all manner of horror or blood and guts titles, I tend to find them lacking in a certain respect.
Few, if any, ever actually feature Halloween.

This Week: Elfen Lied
As it is October, I’m planning on watching various blood soaked and/or horror titles in my free time outside of currently airing shows. But it’s early in the month yet, so there’s no need to splurge right into straight up spooky stuff. Which brought me to…

This Week: Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, Watamote, Silver Spoon, Attack on Titan, Monogatari Series: Second Season, Miss Monochrome, and Uchouten Kazoku
While we’re into October, Summer anime season for 2013 has now officially closed up shop for the year and it’s time to lock all the toys back in the box and do at least a little light clean up before we have company over for Fall season and get everything strewn about right and proper all over again.
These passing thoughts are not presented in any particular order, aside from my favorite series of the Summer, which I would like to save my goodbye for until the end.

This Week: Vampire Wars, Psychic Wars, Dog Solider: Shadows of the Past, and Debutante Detective Corps.
As we’re now in the awkward period between seasons, this was a week of one-offs and other frivolous nonsense. Most of it from the sludge and schlock pile.

This Week: Kyousougiga (2011), Kyousougiga (2012), Mr. Arashi’s Amazing Freak Show, and Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G.
Summer season is ending and I’m behind on several things I meant to get to on that front before Fall season hits, so everything else this week was shorts. Three of these can even be considered fieldwork practicums for the upcoming season, so this is actually a more topical post than this series usually is!

This Week: Dirty Pair OVA Series, Dirty Pair: Project Eden, Dirty Pair: Flight 005 Conspiracy, and Dirty Pair: Affair on Nolandia.
I’ve been powerfully stressed out recently, so I went back to an anime fandom standby from the wayback machine for something that would fit like a comfortable pair of pants. Which is to say, I watched Dirty Pair all week.
Manga Entertainment has it all on their YouTube channel, so it’s in easy reach (avoid the Dirty Pair Flash remake, it took all the wrong messages and tanked for good reason). They only have a few hundred views apiece, so I’m sure they wouldn’t mind the attention.

This Week: Mobile Police Patlabor: Early Days, Mobile Police Patlabor: The Movie, Mobile Police Patlabor: WXIII, and Mobile Police Patlabor 2: The Movie.
It was Labor Day weekend in the USA, so… I had a Patlabor marathon.
…Don’t forget to tip your waiters, folks!
I went with the movie timeline, since it’s more narrative driven than the TV timeline.
