Outfit from May and June 2021.
With the looming June arrival of New Genesis, the global servers for PSO 2 would receive a graphical engine update. Characters would also be able to travel between the Classic game and the new one, at any time, with the same character model.
June would also hold the release of Guilty Gear Strive. The newest entry and freshest coat of paint on another series for which I have decades of experience and fondness.
So when it came to decide what to wear for May, well…
It had to be May.
…It is a good joke and I am sticking to it.
This would be the last outfit I was going to be able to take screenshots of in the old PSO2 before the graphics update, and the first in what would come next.
New Genesis would also at last bring the arrival of the Screenshot Studio to the global servers. This allows the player to spin up dedicated instances for various locations in the older PSO 2 we otherwise only see in cutscenes. Thus, giving international players even more photoshoot locations Japan had enjoyed for a bit. You can even invite story characters to “quest” with you, as the game treats these as no different than combat exploration fields.
Heck, you can even visit the lobby environment from the original Alpha test build of PSO 2.
May is known for her various nautical moves involving animal friends, such as the notorious Mister Dolphin. Deploying multiple seagulls flying in formation around me at all times felt like a great use of this accessory.
It made for the most amount of times random folks in game have commented on my outfits to date.
Also, for anyone familiar with Guilty Gear’s sound cues: yes, May’s boots squeak when you walk or run wearing this outfit.
And they stop squeaking when your feet dip enough underwater!
